Quaest RS: Juliana Brizola beats Zucco in the 2nd round – 04/30/2026 – Politics

The Genial/Quaest survey for October released this Thursday (30) points to a technical tie between () and (PL) in the first round of the dispute for the Government of Rio Grande do Sul, with the pedetista advantage in the second round.

Leonel Brizola’s granddaughter received 24% of voting intentions in the first stage of voting, against 21% for the federal deputy. Next, Gabriel Souza (), with 6%, and Marcelo Maranata (PSDB), with 2%, and Rejane Oliveira (PSTU), with 1%.

Blank or null votes total 12%, and 34% of those interviewed declared themselves undecided. The margin of error is plus or minus three percentage points.

The survey interviewed 1,104 voters from Rio Grande do Sul through personal, home and in-person interviews from April 24th to 28th.

Second round

In a second round simulation between Brizola and Zucco, the candidate from the president’s group () in the state appears ahead, with 35%, compared to 27% for the name supported by the former president (PL).

In the confrontation between Zucco and Gabriel Souza, the deputy scores 28%, against 20% for .

In a dispute between Brizola and Gabriel, the Pedestrian candidate outperforms the vice-governor by 35% to 17%.

Leite government assessment

The survey also measured the evaluation of Eduardo Leite’s government (). Among those interviewed, 24% considered the government negative, 39% evaluated it as regular and 34% as positive.

Senate

In the dispute for the two Senate seats, (PSOL) appears with 14%. (MDB) has 12%, and (PT) and (Novo) both register 9% each. Frederico Antunes (PSD) scores 2%, and Cláudio Diaz (PSDB), 1%.

Blanks and nulls make up 18%, while 28% remain undecided.

The current senators from Rio Grande do Sul are Luis Carlos Heinze () and Paulo Paim (PT), who are not running for re-election. The PSDB ticket has not yet decided on the second name it will present for the Senate.

The survey was commissioned by Genial Investimentos and registered with the Electoral Court under number RS-03000/2026.

Changes in eight months

This is the first Genial/Quaest survey carried out since, under pressure from the party’s national leadership, he joined Juliana Brizola’s ticket as vice-president.

The previous survey, released in August 2025, indicated Juliana Brizola with 21%, Zucco with 20%, Pretto with 11% and Gabriel with 5%.

Since then, , the largest party in Rio Grande do Sul, has nominated state deputy Silvana Covatti as vice-president.

Gabriel’s vice-president is federal deputy Ernani Polo, who left the PP in disagreement with the party’s support for Zucco and joined the PSD, governor Eduardo Leite’s party.

Maranata was not yet included in the survey. He would run in the election alongside rural producer Betty Cirne Lima, coordinator of the Expointer agricultural fair, but she gave up her pre-candidacy for vice-governor to dedicate herself to organizing the event, which takes place in September.
