O rei Charles III arrived, on Monday (27), in the United States for a meeting whose objective was strengthen ties with the American president, Donald Trumpafter diplomatic tension between Washington and London due to the conflict in Iran. During the monarch and Queen Camilla’s visit to the White House, the republican made some gaffes.

On Tuesday (28), when receiving Charles III and Camilla, Trump slipped his hand behind his back of the American First LadyMelania Trump. The act was seen as a “silly hand” on the wife.

Now alongside Charles III and Camilla, another “silly hand” from the republican was caught.

Shortly afterwards, in a salute to Charles III, Trump overtook Camila as she greeted White House staff.

The day after the meeting, on Wednesday (29), the newspaper Los Angeles Times reported that Trump told, during a state dinner, details of his private meeting with Charles III. The American president shared that the British monarch agreed with him that Iran should not be allowed to possess nuclear weapons.

The Republican’s action is seen as a breach of protocol because there is a convention of keep private conversations with the British monarch confidential. This is because the UK sovereign must be above political disputes e cannot intervene in public debate.

This is not the first time that Trump has made gaffes in front of a British monarch. Visiting Queen Elizabeth II, in Windsor, in 2018, he was more than 10 minutes late for the meeting with the monarch. When greeting her, the American leader did not bow. And, soon after, when they left for inspection by the troop of honor, the republican stepped forward and turned his back on her.
