Former president Jair Bolsonaro showed good progress after surgery on his right shoulder and should begin a motor and functional rehabilitation protocol, according to a medical bulletin released by DF Star Hospital this Saturday.
According to the health unit, Bolsonaro remains hospitalized after undergoing an arthroscopic rotator cuff repair procedure. The clinical condition is considered stable, with pain control.
“DF Star Hospital informs that former president Jair Messias Bolsonaro is hospitalized, after undergoing arthroscopic repair surgery on the rotator cuff on the right. He showed good evolution and good pain control. At the moment, he remains hospitalized in an apartment for analgesia, thrombosis prevention measures and will begin a motor and functional rehabilitation protocol”, says the bulletin.
The surgery was carried out last Friday and lasted around five hours, including the pre-operative period. The procedure was uneventful.
Bolsonaro has been under house arrest since the end of March, after previously being hospitalized to treat bronchopneumonia. The shoulder surgery was authorized by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) after a request from the defense, which pointed out injuries and persistent pain resulting from a fall.
According to doctors, the former president had problems in his right shoulder that required surgical intervention, including injuries to tendons and other structures. He remains under clinical observation as he begins the recovery phase.
