Villarreal thanked the coach for his “professionalism, commitment and work from day one”, as well as his “daily involvement and contribution to sporting development during the seven seasons in which he has led the team in both stages” (2013-2016 and 2023-2026). He has become the coach with the most matches coached in the club’s history – he will end up with 298 matches in all competitions – and holds the club’s record of victories with 145 wins to date.
