The first electoral debate in Andalusia, live | The five main candidates face each other | Andalusia Elections

The electoral campaign that will conclude with the election of the new 109 deputies of the Parliament of Andalusia has one of its first milestones this Monday. RTVE organizes and broadcasts from 9:45 p.m. this Monday the five-way debate that will confront the candidates of the forces that have representation in the autonomous Chamber. The PP presents the current president of the community, Juan Manuel Moreno, for reelection, who is the only headliner who repeats. The PSOE candidate, María Jesús Montero, is new, and Manuel Gavira (Vox), Antonio Maíllo (Por Andalucía) and José Ignacio García (Adelante Andalucía) are also opting for the first time to preside over the autonomous government of the most populated community in Spain.

Although Moreno is the only candidate who repeats, both Antonio Maíllo and María Jesús Montero – the only woman aspiring – have experience in this type of debate. The federal coordinator of IU already led the Andalusian list in 2015 and the former socialist vice president has participated as the highest representative of her party in sectoral debates in other electoral calls.

For 90 minutes, the five candidates will debate around three blocks: economy —which will include employment and housing—; social policies—education, health and immigration—; and a last block on regional financing and pacts, among others. Finally, the debate will conclude with the so-called ‘golden minute’, in which each participant will have 60 seconds to request a vote.

The debate will be moderated by the news director of Spanish Television in Andalusia, Laura Clavero, and by the presenter of La noche en 24 Horas, also on TVE, Xavier Fortes. Next Monday, May 11, a second and final meeting of five will be held, which will be organized and broadcast by Radiotelevisión de Andalucía (RTVA).
