The minister of the (Supreme Federal Court) said this Monday (4) that “elephants painted blue” parade along the Esplanada dos Ministérios and questioned how no one noticed what he classified as “absurd”, when indirectly commenting on the scandal.
According to Dino, these absurdities belong to the Three Powers and also to the financial market, which means “everyone owns a share in this condominium”.
Dino made the statement during a public court hearing to discuss the oversight capacity of the CVM (Securities Commission), amid the bank’s fraud.
The minister is the rapporteur of a direct action of unconstitutionality presented by Novo. The party requests the suspension by means of a precautionary measure (provisional decision) of sections of the law that changed the way in which the commission’s inspection fee is calculated.
“Let’s imagine that a bank backed, for example, by these court orders, these credits, itself or with the help of other banks, starts issuing CDBs [Certificados de Depósito Bancário] paying 130%, 140% of the CDI [Certificados de Depósito Interbancário] Since, for me, as a popular, middle-class saver, it attracts attention”, said the judge.
“I’m impressed, and it’s not new, I’ve been in Brasília holding office since 1999, I’ve never seen so many elephants painted blue parading around this Esplanade. So many absurd things. And my question as a civil servant of the Brazilian State is: has no one seen it? How come no one has seen it? The elephant is big, it’s painted blue parading in front of everyone”, he added.
