Romanian government overthrown after vote of no confidence in parliament

Bucharest – After the breakup of the ruling coalition in Romania, parliament has ousted pro-Western Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. 281 MPs expressed no confidence in his minority government on Tuesday, far more than the required 233. The motion of no confidence was submitted by the previously co-ruling Social Democrats (PSD) together with the opposition right-wing populist AUR. 254 of the 465 MPs had signed the motion.
