Ryanair’s CEO has revealed that the airline has been forced to divert a plane almost every day due to the inappropriate behavior of some passengers.
Michael O’Leary believes this problem is related to the consumption of alcoholic beverages and, therefore, wants it to be banned at airports in the early hours of the morning.
“I don’t completely understand why people are served in airport bars at five or six in the morning. Who needs to drink beer at that time?”, he asked.
“There should be no alcohol service at airports” at these times, he added, criticizing establishments “which, in the event of a delay, are completely willing to serve all the alcohol people want, because they know they will transfer the problem to the airlines.”
The Irish company announced in June the introduction of a fine of 500 euros for passengers whose behavior requires them to disembark.
In 2024, it considered that the flights between the UK and certain destinations such as Ibizaknown for its nightclubs, were “the worst”.
“If you go back 10 years, maybe we had one flight diversion a week, now, I’d say we’re close to one a day,” O’Leary continued, speaking to the Times.
The person in charge proposes limit passengers to two alcoholic drinks at airportsusing your boarding pass.
