The airline Latam Brasil reduced its flights scheduled for June by 2% to 3% due to the increase in costs generated by the rise in aviation fuel prices since the start of the war in the Middle East, said the executive president, Jerome Cadier.
“These are occasional adjustments, made depending on current fuel prices and ticket prices,” said Cadier in an interview with journalists.
“We have not yet had, in the months of April and May, significant travel cancellations due to the increase in fuel prices,” said the executive.

However, he warned that, if the war prolongs, Latam Brasil will “start to look more in advance at the third and fourth quarters and then, yes, eventually make adjustments that are not yet reflected in what is published”.
The company’s parent company, Latam, earlier announced a reduction in its profit estimate for this year also due to the increase in fuel costs.
Despite the rise in oil prices since the start of the war in February, Cadier stated that Latam Brasil does not see any risk of possible fuel shortages in the destinations where it currently operates.
“Today, here in Brazil, Latam Brasil is paying twice as much for each liter of aviation fuel as it was paying in February this year. The accumulated increase in the last three months is 100%,” he said.
