The compensation fund for asbestos victims will be eight months old since it started its activity in September 2025. In this time, 323 applications have been submitted, of which 82 compensations have been recognized, which means that only one in four requests (25%) has been granted. This is indicated by the balance sheet provided by the management of the fund to the State Federation of Associations of Asbestos Victims (Fedavica), which also indicates that a total of 25 million euros per year with which the fund is endowed have been allocated to the payment of these compensations. The data points, therefore, to a poor execution of compensation, which has led to repeated complaints from those affected and the unions.
