Frakes was born on August 19, 1952 in the American city of Bellefonte (Pennsylvania). He gained the greatest popularity thanks to the role of Commander William T. Riker in the legendary sci-fi series Star Trek: The Next Generation, where he worked for seven seasons and subsequently in several film sequels. His charismatic demeanor and natural humor made him one of the most popular characters of the entire Star Trek brand.
In addition to acting, Frakes was also engaged in dubbing and moderating, while also gaining attention as the host of Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction. In addition to his acting career, he has also successfully established himself as a director.
