Ypê appeals to Anvisa and suspends decision to withdraw batches suspected of contamination

Ypê filed an appeal on Thursday (7) with the National Health Surveillance Agency – Anvisa – against the decision determining the withdrawal of products due to possible contamination, and suspended the agency’s decision. “With this resource, the ban on manufacturing and selling products in the concentrated dishwasher, liquid laundry detergent and disinfectant categories had its effects automatically suspended until further announcement by the agency,” said the company, in a note shared on social media.

“However, even though the filing of the appeal resulted in the suspension of the effects of the previous measure, Ypê reinforces that consumer safety is – and will always be – its highest priority”, adds the note, reinforcing that “it will continue in constant and permanent dialogue with Anvisa and other authorities, always based on scientific criteria and technical subsidies”.

On Thursday (08), Anvisa ordered the withdrawal of batches of Ypê brand cleaning products. The decision, which also suspends the manufacture, distribution, sale and use of the items, affects detergents, liquid laundry soaps and disinfectants. The restriction is valid for all specified products whose batches end with the number 1.

The measure was taken after a joint inspection carried out by Anvisa, the São Paulo Health Surveillance Center and the municipal Health Surveillance. During the inspection, the agencies identified the non-compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice standards.
