State deputy Marina Helou (PSB) was invited to participate in the international summit Building Climate Resilience Legislation, an initiative to encourage legislative responses to the climate crisis.
Marina will be the only sitting parliamentarian from South America present at the meeting, which will take place next Tuesday (12) in the Vatican Gardens.
“It is very significant to see Brazilian legislative experiences being recognized in such an important international space”, says the deputy, adding that the Vatican has great potential to give voice to the climate agenda.
“Tragedies like those that show that the climate crisis is no longer an abstract debate and requires concrete public policies, adaptation capacity and commitment from parliaments to real solutions to protect lives and territories.”
The initiative by the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences is part of the construction of a global climate resilience protocol that will be presented by the Vatican next year. The event is inspired by the call for the world to move from words to action.
