Program is structured into 6 axes that deal with logistics and intelligence; launch should be on Tuesday (May 12)
The president’s government (PT) prepares the announcement of the Brazil Against Organized Crime Program, which will involve investment of R$11 billion, with R$1 billion from the Federal Budget and R$10 billion via BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) for the States. The expectation is that the launch will be on Tuesday (May 12, 2026).
It will be formalized with 1 presidential decree and 4 ordinances. States will have to join the initiative so that they can access the funds released by BNDES. The plan has 6 axes of action:
- intelligence integration,
- financial and logistical asphyxiation,
- control of the prison system,
- combating arms and ammunition trafficking,
- recovery and protection of territories and
- reduction of impunity.
The announcement was made by the Minister of the Institutional Relations Secretariat, (PT-CE), on your profile on X this Monday (May 11).
The fight against organized crime is one of Planalto’s flags. In March, the president with 2 vetoes. At the ceremony, Lula declared: “We have the chance not to kill the skinny people on the outskirts, but to catch those responsible who live in luxury apartments and who we call crime tycoons.”
On Friday (May 8), the PT member announced the creation of a base in the city of Manaus (AM) with the participation of police from countries bordering Brazil to combat organized crime. In a publication in X, he invited the United States to participate in the initiative.
“One of the topics we discussed in the meeting with President Trump was the fight against organized crime. We have an extraordinary Federal Police and a lot of experience in combating drug and weapons trafficking. Our customs are already cooperating in this regard”he wrote.
