The rise in fuel prices is having an impact on the vacation plans of citizens around the world. The European Union’s Energy Commissioner says there is no major problem with security of supply in the short term, but in the long term he is no longer so sure.
With summer just around the corner in Europe, many are taking stock of their lives. In many destinations, flight prices have more than doubled and have a direct cause: the war in Iran and the resulting rise in fuel prices.
European Union Energy Commissioner Dan Jorgensen says a very serious supply security problem is not expected in the short term, but does not rule out the possibility of long-term supply security issues.
According to airlines and authorities, there is still no general abandonment of long-distance travel, but destinations are changing and many are favoring train travel within Europe.
