In a post made last Tuesday (12), United States President Donald Trump published an image in which Venezuela appears portrayed as the 51st state of the United States.
There is no other element in the publication, which was made on the Truth Social social network. Without any additional comments, the illustration shows the map of Latin America appears with the Venezuelan territory stamped with the colors of the US flag.
The post occurred just one day after the presenter of Fox NewsJohn Roberts, report that Trump admitted in an interview that he was “seriously considering making Venezuela the 51st state in the USA”.
This behavior is part of a sequence of speeches by the president about his possible annexation of Latin America.
Still in April, the Republican leader mocked his acceptance by the Venezuelan people by saying that he would have aspirations to lead the country.
“So when I get this (the war against Iran) over with, I can go to Venezuela,” Trump said at the time. He also commented on the ease he would have with the local language: “I will learn Spanish quickly. It won’t take long. I’m good with languages and I’ll go to Venezuela. I’ll run for president.”
