Talks between Lebanon and Israel continued amid blows from both sides

Talks between Israeli and Lebanese government delegations, particularly on the cease-fire that expires Sunday, have been “positive” and will continue — as planned — for a second day today, a US official said.

“We had a full day of productive and positive talks, which lasted from 09:00 to 17:00 (local time; 16:00 to 00:00 Greek time). It will be our pleasure to continue tomorrow and we hope to be able to say more” after the second day of negotiations is over, the US State Department official added.

The fighting continues

At the same time, Hezbollah late announced that it had attacked Israeli soldiers in the northern part of that country, near the border with Lebanon. The announcement came as talks between Israeli and Lebanese government delegations were underway in Washington.

In its statement it says that it “targeted a gathering of enemy Israeli armed forces soldiers at the location of Ros Hanikra” using an unmanned aerial vehicle. The Israeli armed forces reported yesterday at noon that a Hezbollah drone strike injured civilians in northern Israel. Later, the Galilee Medical Center reported that four people were injured in an “explosive drone strike in a parking lot in Ros Hanikra.”

The official Lebanese news agency ANI, for its part, spoke of Israeli aerial bombardments in southern and eastern Lebanon. The Israeli armed forces assured last night that they “hit more than 65 infrastructure” in various areas of southern Lebanon and that they “killed more than 20 Hezbollah terrorists in the previous 24 hours”.
