Film about Bolsonaro appears classified in the crime genre on the IMDb website

The film “Dark Horse”, which tells the story of former president Jair Bolsonaro, appears classified in the crime, biography and drama genres on the specialized website IMDb, a reference for the cinema market. The production entered the center of the crisis in Senator Flávio Bolsonaro’s pre-candidacy, after audios in which he appears demanding sponsorship fees from banker Daniel Vorcaro were published by the website The Intercept Brasil.

The feature film takes place during the 2018 presidential race, won by Bolsonaro, then a PSL candidate. One of the important scenes in the plot is when he suffers an attack during the campaign, at a rally held in Juiz de Fora, and is stabbed in the stomach, leaving him hospitalized for the rest of the electoral race. However, it is not possible to determine whether the gender classification was made due to this scene.

IMDb works as a database of films, television series and other audiovisual productions. On the website, users registered with paid accounts can edit film pages collaboratively. However, the information must be accepted within a period determined by the platform.

The film’s page on the website also featured an image created by artificial intelligence, where its main actor Jim Caviezel, characterized as Jair Bolsonaro, holds two briefcases with the logo of Banco Master, by Daniel Vorcaro. It is not possible to determine when the image was included or who was responsible for it.

Until last Thursday (14), Vorcaro also appeared as executive producer of the work on IMDb, which has since been removed from the website. When contacted, the “Dark Horse” producer denied having any relationship with the presence of the banker’s name on the platform.

According to GLOBO columnist Malu Gaspar, the former owner of Banco Master transferred R$62 million to production. After the repercussion of the case this Wednesday, senator Flávio Bolsonaro spoke out in public through a note and a video. He defended himself and said that Vorcaro “had a contract” to finance Dark Horse.

— I met Daniel Vorcaro in December 2024. There were absolutely no accusations against him. What happens is that, over time, he simply stopped honoring the contract installments. Yes, there was a contract, that by not paying the installments, there was a great chance that the film would not even be broadcast, or even be completed. Because of this, we looked for other investors to complete this film — said Flávio.

Hours later, however, Mário Frias published a note on Instagram and stated that “there is not a single cent of Mr. Daniel Vorcaro in Dark Horse”. He also added that Flávio Bolsonaro has no connection with the production of the film.

“And, even if there were, there would be no problem: it is a strictly private relationship, between capable adults, without a single real of public money involved,” said the deputy, in a statement released on social media.
