A former senior Austrian counterintelligence official was sentenced this Wednesday to 49 months in prison for opponents of the regime who had taken refuge in Europe. The Vienna Provincial Court has considered it proven that Egisto Ott, until 2017 chief inspector in the now defunct Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution and Fight against Terrorism (BVT), replaced by a new body, collaborated with the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB), the heir of the Soviet KGB.
