During Saturday, the hottest locations in the southwest of the country should reach 29 degrees Celsius. On Sunday (May 24) it should be even warmer, it should be about the first tropical day of the year. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) reported on the social network that they expect a maximum temperature of 31 degrees Celsius. There will be places in the northern districts around 24 degrees Celsius.
However, meteorologists warn that during Sunday, more clouds and occasional showers may appear, exceptionally there may also be thunder. However, it will not be felt in the temperature “Monday (May 25) will be very similar, but the cloud cover will gradually decrease. Tuesday (May 26) will be the warmest. We are expecting mostly clear and very warm weather, during which the maximum temperature will reach 32 to 33 degrees Celsius,” stated SHMÚ. For some locations, it is compared to the average of the years 1991 to 2023 by exceptionally warm weather.
Before a cold front with a significant temperature, which will advance towards us from the north during the night on Wednesday (May 27), the influx of warm air from the west to the northwest will peak in our area. “Although the front will bring cooling, we will have to wait for more significant precipitation,” the meteorologists concluded.
