The government leader in the National Congress, senator Randolfe Rodrigues (PT-AP), believes that the PEC that abolishes the 6×1 work schedule should be voted on within three weeks in the Senate. In conversation with the Young Panthe parliamentarian stated that he was confident both in the approval and in the rapid processing of the proposal.

The Senate should receive the text approved by the Chamber this Thursday (28). The expectation is that the PEC will be initially analyzed by the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ) before going to the plenary. Internally, senators are already speculating about possible names for the text’s rapporteur.

“We will defend that the process is brief, fast, and the Chamber’s decision is respected with the text that was approved. The Brazilian worker cannot wait any longer than he has already waited”, stated Randolfe. “We need to have the end of the 6×1 scale to be applied in September this year. And that’s why I believe that, in the next two, three weeks at most, we will be able to approve it in the Senate”, he added.

Despite the government’s optimism, opposition senators are already working to change parts of the text approved by the Chamber. A group of parliamentarians signed an amendment to make working hours more flexible, which would maintain the 44-hour week, with an increase in daily working time — which, in practice, would negate the main objective of the proposal.
