CNJ will end compulsory retirement as punishment – 05/29/2026 – Politics

The president of the (Supreme Federal Court), said this Friday (29) that the (National Council of Justice) will apply the court’s decision that committed irregularities.

The judge, who is also head of the CNJ, stated that the body must regulate the measure within the next 30 days and that it will begin to implement it in specific cases analyzed by the counselors.

The president of the STF argued that, when a judge who adopted inappropriate behavior is punished, “what we are doing is honoring the immense majority of magistrates who, on a daily basis, carry out their duties”.

“Therefore, respond and apply the penalty, which is not just an award, but in fact a sanction. This is the path we will adopt”, he declared.

The decision to end compulsory retirement and replace the sanction for serious infractions was taken by the First Panel of the STF on Tuesday (26). The ministers were unanimous in following the understanding of , who had decided on the issue in a monocratic (individual) manner.

According to the rapporteur’s vote, which was accompanied by , and , punishment with maintenance of receipts would mean impunity.

The loss of the position, by decision, is subject to an action before the Supreme Court itself, after an administrative process in this regard.
