The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), classified as “victory” the decision of the United States to classify the Brazilian factions Comando Vermelho (CV) and Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) as terrorist organizations. “It’s a victory in the fight against organized crime. It opens the doors to important international cooperation”, he told the column.

This is not the governor’s first favorable expression of the measure. In March, for example, he described the classification as an “opportunity” and said that the change would make it easier to integrate intelligence and obtain resources to fight crime.

O announcement was made one day after Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL)Tarcísio’s ally, meet with US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio. According to the parliamentarian, Rubio was in favor of the change. Flávio would also have spoken to Donald Trump, at the White House, about the matter.
