Women also find women more beautiful

Charles Darwin was already concerned with the question of why women were considered the “fairer sex” in his time. In the animal kingdom, the great naturalist observed that males are more responsible for beauty: lions with impressive manes, peacocks with iridescent feathers and many other bird species in which the male representatives are clearly the more attractive and compete for female attention. For Darwin, these were classic cases of sexual selection: those males with the more attractive characteristics had greater chances of reproducing.
