Government members were irritated with the president of , (União-AP), after he suggested that he could prolong the debate on the PEC at the end of the House.
Behind the scenes, senators from Lula’s allied base complain that, on the other hand, Alcolumbre dispatched an opposition PEC in less than 24 hours, presented by senator Rogerio Marinho (PL-RN), which provides for working hours per hour worked, with no limit set by law.
This Tuesday (2), during a speech in the plenary, the president of the Senate said that he will not hold a hasty debate on the PEC approved in the Chamber and that, if necessary, the text will be improved and may even go through a special commission, in addition to the CCJ (Constitution and Justice Commission).
Some senators claim that they did not expect speed from the President of the House, but complain about the difference in treatment.
Alcolumbre even told allies that . This Tuesday, however, he said that the Senate will not be a mere rubber-stamp House.
“We are 81 equals and each one must discern the importance of voting on this matter. Social media cannot be used, one or another actor cannot demand from the Senate that the matter arrives in the morning and we vote in the afternoon”, he stated in the plenary.
The matter will only be discussed next Tuesday (9) during a leaders’ meeting. The government already foresees a fight at the CCJ. The president of the commission, senator (PSD-BA), discarded the alternative PEC and said he would prioritize the Chamber’s proposal, defended by the government.
Given Alcolumbre’s position, PT members do not rule out going online to put pressure on the senator. The motto can be used as a pressure instrument to ensure that the matter is approved soon.
The fear is that the text will not advance in June and, as a result, will lose strength in the second half of the year when the House does not usually vote on important matters in an election year.
Alcolumbre reacted. “Don’t force me, don’t threaten me, don’t offend me, don’t attack me. That I will, with my conscience, with my heart, at the appropriate time, decide what my vote will be like. It’s as simple as that,” he stated.
