The former president returned to experiencing above-average hiccups this week, according to a medical report. He continues due to his health, with follow-up after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder just over a month ago.
According to the bulletin sent to the minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), as part of the action regarding the coup plot, Bolsonaro presented a situation of hiccups in the last seven days.
A person who follows Bolsonaro’s routine under house arrest stated, privately, that the former president has been feeling pain and described the situation as worrying.
Doctor Brasil Ramos Caiado says he is maintaining “high doses” of specific medications, in addition to a “strict low-acid diet.”
According to the doctor, Bolsonaro is stable from a cardiological point of view, but complains of “mild tiredness and fatigue” when making medium efforts. The former president also complains of “discomfort when flexing and abducting the right shoulder.”
Lung auscultation, an assessment method for listening to the passage of air through the airways, showed that the residual change “at the base of the left lung” remains unchanged. In March, Bolsonaro was hospitalized with bilateral bacterial bronchopneumonia.
Physiotherapist Kleber Antonio Caiado de Freitas also visited Bolsonaro and sent his bulletin to Moraes. In the document, he describes that the former president continues to use a sling and reports discomfort when trying to move his arm, continuing with limited movement.
“In view of this situation, physiotherapy remains focused on releasing the surgical scar, muscle relaxation and maintaining the tissue conditions of the muscles of the shoulder girdle and cervical region”, describes Freitas.
The physiotherapist also reported that, during a session last Thursday (4), Bolsonaro “had an episode of persistent hiccups.” This situation “directly interfered with his physical condition and the use of physiotherapeutic care”, stated the professional.
Freitas also reported that it was not possible to perform active and passive exercises for the shoulder “due to the tiredness and fatigue presented at the time of the session”. The physiotherapist only recommended continuing care.
Bolsonaro was sentenced by the STF, in September last year, to 27 years and 3 months in prison for an attempted coup d’état, accused of leading a plot to remain in power. He was arrested in November after trying to violate his electronic ankle bracelet.
In March of this year, Minister Alexandre de Moraes offered a 90-day grant to the former president. At the time, Bolsonaro was hospitalized with bronchopneumonia. It faces sequels received in 2018.
