Ceará MP releases R$44,400 for promoters’ trip to the World Cup

The body justifies the trip of 3 members in preparation for the 2027 Women’s Cup in Fortaleza

The (Public Ministry of Ceará) authorized the payment of R$44,409.39 in daily allowances and subsistence allowance for 3 members of the institution to travel to the 2026 World Cup. The tournament starts this Thursday (June 11, 2026) in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

According to the organization, the trips aim to monitor security protocols that could be adopted at the 2027 Women’s World Cup, which will have Fortaleza among the host cities.

In a publication in the Official Gazette of the MP-CE on May 28, the deputy attorney general for Justice of Administration, Francisco Diassis Alves Leitão, authorized the payment of 6 daily allowances and daily allowance to prosecutors Déric Funck Leite, head of the 49th Public Prosecutor’s Office of Fortaleza, and Wander de Almeida Timbó, head of the 15th Public Prosecutor’s Office of Caucaia.

Each person received 6 daily allowances calculated at US$485, converted at the Central Bank exchange rate in force on the date of the decision. The value corresponded to R$2,453.08 per night. The individual subsistence allowance was R$200. In total, payments to the 2 promoters totaled R$29,836.98. They will follow the competition from June 19th to 25th.

The two are part of the Sports and Supporter Defense Center of the MP-CE, which works together with public security bodies, sports entities and public administrations in the country.

In a decree published on May 22, the Attorney General of Ceará, Herbet Gonçalves Santos, was also authorized to receive R$ 14,572.41 in 6 nights to participate in the event “Preparation for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup”, in Dallas, Texas.

Santos did not receive financial assistance. The trip is scheduled for the period from July 1st to 6th. The authorization was also signed by Leitão.

The Public Ministry of Ceará informs that the members designated for the World Cup in the United States are part of a commission of the National Group to Combat Violence in Stadiums (GNCOVE), of the National Council of Attorneys General of the Public Ministry of the States and the Union (CNPG). The delegation going to the USA on an institutional mission is made up of members of MPs from Brazil, reinforcing the national, institutional and strategic nature of the initiative.

The agenda has an institutional and technical nature, focused on monitoring security protocols, crowd management, conflict prevention and coordination between security bodies and entities responsible for organizing international sporting events. The experiences observed will serve as input for planning and improving actions related to the 2027 Women’s Football World Cup, which will be held in eight capital cities in Brazil.

Monitoring sporting events also involves technical visits and meetings with police institutions in the cities that will be visited, such as the Miami Police Department and the Dallas Police Department, with the aim of learning about security protocols, violence prevention strategies and integrated action models used in major international events.

This type of institutional action is already carried out regularly and frequently by members of the Public Ministry at major sporting events promoted in Brazil, especially in actions related to fan safety, violence prevention and integration between public institutions responsible for holding competitions.

As Flight tickets and tickets for the 2026 World Cup games will be paid for by the members themselves.
