The American rapper Ye, also known as Kanye West, will not perform at Prague’s Chuchle Arena in July. As reported by the PrahaIN.cz server, which cites the TASR news, the racing stadium terminated the contract with the organizers and the planned concert will not take place in the area.
- Ye was supposed to perform in Prague’s Chuchle Arena in July, but he will not perform.
- Chuchle Arena terminated the contract with the organizers due to complicated and unreliable communication.
- The concert is sponsored by HUGO Production, led by twenty-year-old Slovak Hugo Varga.
- Ye’s planned appearance in Prague was accompanied by criticism from a part of the local political scene for a long time.
- Ye faces boycott for Nazi-admiring remarks and anti-Semitic symbols.
Originally, the deadline was July 25. The director of the arena, Zuzana Rambová, stated back in April that she had no problem with organizing the performance. However, she confirmed for PrahaIN.cz on Thursday that the concert in Chuchla will not take place in the end.
Contract cancelled
According to the server, Rambová explained that the arena terminated the contract with the organizer. She described communication with the organizers as complicated – they responded only sporadically to phone calls and could not provide clear answers to several questions.
The Czech media reported earlier that the upcoming concert is sponsored by the HUGO Production company. Its manager is to be 20-year-old Slovak Hugo Varga. The company has not yet commented on the current development and has not officially announced the cancellation of the event itself.
Repeated criticism
The idea that Ye will perform in Prague appeared last year after the cancellation of his performance as the main star of the Rubicon festival in Bratislava. Even then, part of the public and some Prague politicians opposed a possible concert in the Czech capital, and the rapper ultimately did not perform in Prague. Even the currently planned July concert faced criticism from part of Prague’s political scene.
Ye has repeatedly been in trouble in the past for his comments, which were perceived as racist and anti-Semitic. He was reminded, for example, of statements in which he declared his admiration for the Nazis, the sale of T-shirts with a swastika, or the song Heil Hitler, released in May 2025, which was subsequently banned by the main streaming platforms.
Controversial statements
These attitudes deprived him of some fans and several commercial partnerships. Subsequently, he repeatedly apologized for his statements and explained them by saying that he suffers from bipolar disorder. According to his own statement, he lost contact with reality during manic episodes.
At the same time, he denied that he was a Nazi or an anti-Semite. He argued that the disputed statements did not reflect his actual beliefs but were the result of his mental state.
