The G-7 summit held this Wednesday in Évian-les-Bains (France) has brought about a fragile political truce in the open schism in the West, a moment of respite in the period of strong tensions between the United States and its allies. The meeting showed points of convergence, especially a joint geopolitical communiqué in which all partners made a commitment to toughen sanctions against Russia and reinforce defensive support for Ukraine. Although it is just a promise, it would have been almost unthinkable until recently in view of the attitude of the White House.
