Others would talk about wonderful weather, but Josef Köberl said: “Those weren’t really my conditions, I like it much colder.” It was a good 20 degrees outside in the air and inside in the water when Köberl swam around the island of Manhattan in New York on Tuesday. After almost 45.9 kilometers or eight hours and 19 minutes, the extreme athlete returned to his starting point, at Pier A in Battery Park in the south of Manhattan. Then he checked the “20 Bridges Swim”, the next “challenge” on his list, and was happy to receive a medal and a finisher’s T-shirt.
