Presidents of the USA and Iran have already signed the memorandum and Trump even sent a photograph. Agreement is in force

Palace of Versailles served as the stage for a moment that could mark the beginning of the end of the war, more than 100 years after having been the scene of another conflict

One day it had to happen. The United States and Iran shared the same information almost simultaneously, in a rare public convergence regarding the evolution of the agreement between the two countries.

First of all, the agencies circulated the information, with both sides realizing that the memorandum of understanding that is intended to be the beginning of the end of the war has already been signed by the presidents of both countries and is in force.

Donald Trump did this in the middle of the Palace of Versailles, on the sidelines of the G7 meeting in which he tired of making statements regarding the return to peace, but also threats regarding the possibility of the agreement not being fulfilled.

Perhaps in good faith, the American team later sent an image to the Iranian team with the signature of the document. Minutes later, the Tasnim agency reported that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that “the text of the memorandum of understanding was probably signed by the presidents of Iran and the United States”.

An electronic signature, highlighted the same source, who clarified that the meeting scheduled for Switzerland on Friday is still on, although changes may arise.

You can find the memorandum of understanding.

Oil to start coming out

The spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated that the country’s missiles will be excluded from any agreement with the United States.

Esmail Baghaei said that Tehran’s defensive capabilities should not enter the discussion, especially because “the missiles are for firing, not for negotiating”.

Furthermore, and in a version that may not completely please the United States, the official guaranteed that Iran’s nuclear material will not be sent outside the country, with the option on the table being the dissolution of existing uranium.

Conversely, Iran must begin receiving payments to allow ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

Still on this point, Esmail Baghaei said that Iran should start selling oil immediately and during the next few days when a final agreement is expected to be reached.

More than 100 years later, the historic palace on the outskirts of Paris is once again used to put an end to a war. It remains to be hoped that neither party looks at this agreement as Adolf Hitler looked at the “dictation” that put an end to the First World War.
