Striker Matheus Cunha, 27, scored two of the Brazilian team’s three goals against Haiti in the first half of the match, this Friday (19). During the celebration, he simulated being on a surfboard.
This is Cunha’s first game as a starter at the 2026 World Cup.
The Manchester United striker surfs in his spare time and has a special relationship with the sport common on Brazilian beaches.
Cunha, who lives in England, revealed in an interview with GE that he frequents places where he can practice surfing, with artificial waves.
He is friends with Ítalo Ferreira, one of the biggest names in Brazilian surfing, and had his first contact with the sport on a trip to Rio Grande do Norte.
