The fans are in shock! BBC Radio star presenter Eddie Nestor took to social media on Tuesday to announce that he is taking a break from his show. He told followers that he had been diagnosed with cancer. The 62-year-old comedian has already started chemotherapy, writes the daily. “You may have noticed that I have been quieter than usual. I have been diagnosed with cancer. The good news is that thanks to the amazing medical team, I have already completed my first round of chemotherapy.” revealed his affliction.
Eddie Nestor did not specify what type of cancer he is fighting. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2007 but is believed to have been in remission for several years. “We’re grateful, we’re hopeful, and as a family we’re looking up and forward. I honestly don’t know what the next few months will look like,” admitted the famous host and comedian.
He promised to return to work when he could, but for now he would focus on getting his strength back. He asked followers not to feel sorry for him. “I’d rather have your prayers and love and encouragement and the occasional laugh. That’s the fuel I need. Thank you to everyone at the BBC for your love and support. Thank you to everyone who has already contacted me,” he added. “Our friend and colleague Eddie Nestor has announced that he will be away from Radio London for some time while he undergoes cancer treatment. All of us at BBC London send our love and support to Eddie and his family,” the BBC said in a statement.
Eddie’s co-star Shay Kaur Grewal expressed her support on her afternoon show. “This next part of the show is not easy for me. As you know I often talk here on BBC Radio London about how we are a big family and this particular message that I am going to share concerns one of our very favorite colleagues and a personal friend of mine… I’m talking about the fantastic Eddie Nestor. I’m sure many of you who have been listening to BBC Radio London over the last few weeks have had many questions, and I’m sharing the news with you now on Radio London as Eddie has given us permission to release the news publicly today,” she mentioned.
