Big MAP of storms in Slovakia: It’s already coming! See WHERE they hit the hardest!

In most of Slovakia, the level of storm warnings has increased from the first to the second. The second-level warning applies in the entire Banskobystricky, Trenčín and Žilina regions. Also in most of the Trnava and Bratislava Regions and in some districts of the Prešovské and Nitra Regions. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) reported about it on the website. The portal published a large map of the districts most at risk from storms.

The first-level storm warning applies in the entire Košice region and in the districts of Bardejov, Humenné, Levoča, Medzilaborce, Prešov, Sabinov, Snina, Stropkov, Svidník, Vranov nad Topľou, Dunajská Streda, Galanta, Komárno, Levice, Nové Zámky, Šaľa, Bratislava and Senec.

In the given areas, 20 to 30 millimeters of rain may fall in half an hour, gusty winds will blow at a speed of 65 to 85 kilometers per hour, and hail may also occur. In other districts, the second level of warning applies. Here, storms can be accompanied by downpours with an intensity of 30 to 50 millimeters of precipitation in half an hour, wind gusts with a speed of 70 to 110 kilometers per hour and hail.

iMeteo.sk adds that the strongest storms should hit Záhorí, Myjava, Považí and the Kysúc area. However, intense storms can spread further, over Horné Považie, Považie and the north of the Danube Plain. There is even a threat of extreme torrential rainfall.

One predictive model shows that in areas approximately from Šala to Žilina, there is a risk that almost 100 millimeters of rain may occasionally fall during Tuesday’s storms. Alarming is the latest ICON model, which expects up to 160 mm on Myjava and Dolny Považí.

The portal has issued the highest level of warning for districts in which there is a high risk of torrential rain and wind gusts that can cause widespread damage. This mainly concerns the districts of Považí from Žilina to Piešťany, as well as the districts of Horny Ponitr. The risk also concerns the districts of Hlohovec, Topoľčany, Bánovce nad Bebravou and Záhoria, specifically the districts of Skalica, Senica and Myjava.
