Vienna – Women’s Minister Eva-Maria Holzleitner (SPÖ) is in favor of a mandatory quota for women on electoral lists. In the future, she would like to change the voting law, she said in an interview with the weekly newspaper Falter: “If a party wants to run, a certain percentage of places on the list must be occupied by women.” The level of this quota needs to be discussed. Other countries have already had good experiences with such measures.
