The arrest of federal deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) took place after the report of an Italian deputy to the authorities, according to the CNN The Ambassador of Italy in Brazil, Renato Mosca. According to the diplomat, the parliamentarian was captured on Tuesday (29) by the Italian police and did not surrender spontaneously.
“This is an important issue of clarifying. It was captured according to Interpol’s request. There was no gesture to present itself. [Zambelli] It builds a narrative that is not based on reality, ”said Mosca.
The contrary to the defense of the deputy, who claims that she surrendered voluntarily, despite the Federal Police and the Ministry of Justice deny the statement.
Also according to the ambassador, steps on the case were already made for months from several sources.
Who is the deputy who “dedicated” the parliamentarian
Angelo Bonelliborn in 1962 in Rome, is a parliamentarian of the House of Representatives of Italy. Bonelli is currently secretary of the VIII Permanent Commission (Environment, Territory and Public Works), as well as a member and leader of the group at the Parliamentary Committee on Radiotelevisive Services Surveillance. He mainly advocates environmental themes, sustainable urban planning, climate adaptation and control over mining activities and fossil fuels.
About Zambelli ,. The interpellation occurred in June, when Bonelli officially questioned the Ministries of the Interior, Justice and Foreign Affairs about the situation of the deputy, who had already been convicted by the Supreme Court (STF).
He charged explanations about the extradition process and defended a revision of the Italian legislation on the revocation of citizenship of persons convicted of crimes against democratic institutions.
“Italian citizenship cannot be used to escape a conviction. Italy runs the risk of becoming a paradise for convicted people,” Bonelli said at the time.
Zambelli case
