United States President Donald Trump is using fares as a foreign policy instrument by imposing secondary rates on Indian products due to the purchase of Russian oil by India, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in an interview with Fox News on Thursday.
“President Trump is using tariffs as a foreign policy instrument and is imposing secondary rates on India for buying Russian oil,” Bessent told Special Report With Bret Baier from Fox News.
Asked if the US could impose additional rates on Chinese products because of the purchase of Russian oil by Beijing, Bessent said Trump is keeping all options open to end the war in Ukraine and that “tariffs about China could be at the table at some point.”
