French Prime Minister Lecornu believes new elections are unlikely

France’s Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, who has resigned but is in charge of negotiations, believes that new elections are unlikely as a way out of the government crisis. The desire for France to have a budget at the end of the year is so great “that the possibility of new elections is moving away,” said Lecornu on Wednesday morning. Next he wants to talk to the “Republican Left” about what “concessions” are necessary to get their support. (APA, October 8, 2025)
