Brazilian Iago Queiroz Costa, 32 years old, who had been deported from , was found this Sunday (26) in , around 24 hours after escaping from a health unit in Greater BH. According to the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship (MDHC), he showed signs of a psychotic break and delusions, but without immediate risk to himself or other people. Iago landed last Wednesday (22) at Confins International Airport, on a flight that brought Brazilians deported from the USA. According to the federal government, he had spent 75 days detained in American territory before deportation.

After arriving in Brazil, teams identified the need for medical care and referred him to the Vespasiano UPA, in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, to stabilize his condition. In the early hours of Saturday (25), however, he fled the health unit. MDHC contacted the Minas Gerais Civil Police and maintained contact with the health unit to try to locate him. Iago was found on Sunday (26) at Pampulha station, in the capital of Minas Gerais. According to information from the ministry, he borrowed a phone from the terminal and called his brother, telling him where he was and asking to be picked up.

After contact, the police were called and accompanied him until he was reunited with his family. The Brazilian is now under medical monitoring and follow-up. Belo Horizonte is one of the main Brazilian cities to receive flights from deportees from the United States, according to data from the federal government.
