The Olympia, promoted annually by the IFBB (International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness) since 1965, is the most renowned and disputed championship in all of sport. Those who win the competition in the Open and Women’s Bodybuilding categories are traditionally known by the titles of “Mister Olympia” and “Miss Olympia”.
The tournament in question started with just one category – which was equivalent to the Open of modern times – and started to have a women’s division in 1980. Today, however, there are 11 different modalities in total.

Bikini
Born in the United States, Ashley Kaltwasser won the Olympia in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
Wellness
The category dominated by Brazilians has Francielle Mattos as its biggest champion, who won the titles in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Figure
Cydney Gillon dominated the category between 2017 and 2024, when she won eight titles.
Fitness
Dominican and also eight-time Olympia champion, Adela Garcia won the title in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Women’s Physique
Both Brazilian Juliana Malacarne (2014-2017) and American Sarah Villegas (2020, 2021, 2023 and 2024) are four-time Olympia champions.
Women’s Bodybuilding
Iris Kyle is not only the greatest Olympia champion in her category, but also the human being who has won the tournament the most times. The American won 10 titles, obtained in 2004 and in the period from 2006 to 2014.
Wheelchair
Harold Kelley, “Kong”, is a six-time Olympia champion. After winning every edition of the championship between 2018 and 2022, he lost the title in 2023, but returned to the top 1 in 2024.
Men’s Physique
The category that was born, in theory, to achieve the “beach shape” had a unanimous champion between 2014 and 2017. North American Jeremy Buendia was world champion four times in a row.
Classic Physique
Implemented in the most important world bodybuilding championship in 2016, the category’s main representative is Canadian Chris Bumstead. Nicknamed “Cbum”, the athlete won six editions of the tournament between 2019 and 2024, the year in which he announced his retirement from the stage.
Open
Both Lee Haney –the first to reach the milestone– and Ronnie Coleman –considered the “King of bodybuilding”– have eight titles. While Haney achieved his achievements between 1984 and 1991, Coleman won every edition of the Olympia from 1998 to 2005.

The “short category” was dominated by Welshman James “Flex” Lewis between 2012 and 2018, a period in which he won seven titles.
