With the ever-present pressure on beauty and slimness of the body, advertisements for light meals and the promotion of div no hunger strikes also go hand in hand. But how is it really? What is still healthy and what already crosses the line when the body starts to defend itself?
Many place the main emphasis on a light (or even no) dinner, so to be safe, they only take a piece of fruit or yogurt – ideally with a minimum fat content. While we feel good about doing the best for our bodies and pounds, experts have a slightly different opinion and point out the possible consequences of such behavior. In the final effect, we can rather gain weight, even with the feeling of hunger, which can wake us up from sleep at night.
The following video can be a little inspiration:
The body needs balanced nutrition
It’s no secret that the body needs a balanced ratio of macronutrients – i.e. proteins, fats and carbohydrates – to function properly. Of course, fruits and yogurts contain many important elements such as vitamins, probiotics and others, but they lack some basic components to allow us to feel full. These are mainly proteins, which (although we can also find them in dairy products) are mainly contained in meat, fish, legumes, or even tofu.

Without fats and proteins, we reach for chips
It is also about healthy fats, which we could get from, for example, olive oil, avocado and other ingredients. While proteins are the basic building material of muscles (which subsequently burn calories and thus help weight loss), the mentioned fats help absorption. Without these ingredients, dinner is more of an impression than a real supply of the organism for the coming hours. The feeling of hunger and the desire for “something good”, that is, let’s understand what the body is still looking for, will come relatively soon. If we can’t figure out what he’s calling for, we reach for the bag of chips, which is the worst thing we can do.
Beware of “wolf hunger”
An interesting discovery made by the experts is the fact that paradoxically, after such light dinners, we can rather start gaining weight. It is also necessary to bear in mind the so-called , which affects fluctuations in the blood sugar level. The higher it is, the greater the fluctuation will occur after consuming them. What does this mean? The increased level of sugar in the blood provokes a reaction in the intensive release of insulin and, under its influence, the rapid removal of sugar from the blood again. There is only one consequence – “wolf hunger” will come, which you will most likely not overcome other than with the next move. We’re not going to lie to ourselves that we’re going to cook particularly healthy meals before midnight, rather we reach for something ready-made that we just take out of the package. That is, after industrially processed food. Is this really the best solution?
Fruit can cause problems
In addition to the already mentioned negatives, there is also a problem with eating fruit before bed, when the metabolism generally slows down. Even if it is a healthy food, it cannot pass through the digestive tract as easily and its fermentation in the stomach, where it gets “stuck”, then leads to bloating, which can disturb a good night’s sleep.
How to have a proper dinner?
So what should a really healthy dinner look like, which can also contribute to gradual weight loss? It should be composed of three basic parts for a balanced intake of macronutrients as we indicated above. Proteins of plant or animal origin can be represented by, for example, legumes, chicken or fish. By healthy fat, we mean, for example, olive oil, in which we prepare the meat, and carbohydrates are taken care of by a side dish in the form of stewed vegetables, which also provide the body with fiber, necessary for proper digestion. It’s not that complicated, but we must always think not only about the first impression, but also about the consequences of every decision to change eating habits.
