Little ones, big ones and even big ones: Halloween in several countries around the world

In several countries, Halloween traditions were celebrated last night, October 31st. From children asking for treats, to adults wearing masks and even animal contests, nothing was missing.

In Lima, Peru, Halloween includes a costume contest for dogs and cats. Clowns, pirates and even a cartoon princess (all four-legged) paraded through the streets of the capital. The objective was to gather animals for an adoption campaign.

“First of all, animals are therapeutic. Generally, psychologists recommend that a person can have an animal. Why? Because animals bring emotional stability and encourage us to exercise because you have to go out to take them for walks, to run, to play”, highlights one participant.

In a zoo in the United Kingdom, the rhino, lemurs and African lion cubs were given special treats and decorations. In the United States, in Los Angeles, Halloween was marked by the usual parades. Thousands of people took to the streets to mark the date and there was no lack of creativity.

In La Paz, Bolivia, the streets were also filled with people. In a parade that mixed pop culture and Hollywood, Michael Jackson was the great honoree.
