The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, expressed interest, in a phone call with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, this Friday, 31st, in Brazil’s cooperation for ethanol production. Mexico intends to meet the country’s demand, which has been growing.
According to the Presidency’s Communication Secretariat (Secom), he also spoke with him about the desire to implement social projects to combat hunger and poverty.
The Mexican president also informed Lula of the appointment of the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Alicia Barcenas, to represent Mexico at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP-30), in Belém.

Lula discussed other bilateral and regional issues with Mexico. He thanked Vice President Geraldo Alckmin for his welcome, who held a work schedule in Mexico City in August, and reiterated his willingness to conclude a new trade agreement with the country to deepen the economic partnership.
They also spoke about the visit of the Mexican Foreign Minister, Juan Ramón de La Fuente Ramirez, scheduled for November.
Lula also spoke to Claudia about his trip to Indonesia and Malaysia. The president reaffirmed the potential for cooperation between Latin America and Southeast Asia.
