Carlo Ancelotti leaves open the possibility of Endrick playing in the 2026 World Cup, despite the young athlete not appearing on the Italian commander’s lists

The coach of the Brazilian team, , left open the possibility of the young striker playing next year. The athlete, however, has not appeared on the Italian commander’s lists. Since taking charge of the national team, the Italian coach has not called up the forward. Endrick lost space in the Spanish club’s main squad, especially after the arrival of coach Xabi Alonso.

Still, Ancelotti does not rule out calling the athlete to the Brazilian team. The Italian, however, gave advice to the athlete as revealed by stating that it is essential that the young man has more minutes on the field.

“I spoke to him (Endrick) at the beginning of this season. He was injured, but now he’s well, back, and he has to think with his surroundings about what’s best. Talk to the club, to see what’s best for him. Endrick is very young, it won’t be his last World Cup. He can play in the 2026 World Cup, because he has the quality for it, but he could be in the 2030, 2034 and could even be in the 2038 (laughs). I think it’s important for him to play again and show his qualities”, said Carlo Ancelotti in an interview with Score.

“There could be 18 players (already defined for the 2026 World Cup) more or less. There are a lot of injuries in football, so you can never know. Today we make a list, but tomorrow or after the Champions League games you have to change it”, added the Italian.

Indefinite future

Endrick’s future at Real Madrid is undefined. Lyon, from France, showed interest in signing the Brazilian, and the Spanish club is considering loaning him for six months. A definition may occur and the parties are negotiating.

In the current season, Endrick played for just 14 minutes with the Real Madrid shirt. The striker was on the field in the defeat of Valencia. When Carlo Ancelotti was still in charge of Real Madrid last season, the player played for around 840 minutes, scoring seven goals.

Endrick has not played for the Brazilian team since the national team’s defeat to Argentina, in March, in the South American Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. Dorival Júnior was Brazil’s coach at the time.
