Temperatures will fluctuate around zero degrees, and there may be snow locally. So when it seemed that the weather in winter would not surprise us and we would have a repeat of the last rainy years, IMWM presented the first forecasts for the 2026 winter holidays.
Winter holidays 2026 will last from January 19 to March 1 and will take place in three rounds for different voivodeships:
- January 19 – February 1, 2026: Masovian Voivodeship, Pomeranian Voivodeship, Podlasie Voivodeship, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship
- February 2 – February 15, 2026: Lower Silesia, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, Łódź Voivodeship, West Pomeranian Voivodeship, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Opole Voivodeship
- February 16 – March 1, 2026: Podkarpackie, Lublin, Greater Poland, Lubusz, Silesian
According to forecasters, January and February 2026 will bring . Snow is expected to fall in the Tatra Mountains and Beskids, which will create ideal conditions for winter sports. Snow cover in these areas may exceed even 50 centimeters. Temperatures are expected to be within normal limits, but snowfall is expected to be above average. There may be severe frost at night. According to IMWM data, heavy night frosts of up to minus 20 degrees Celsius are possible, especially in mountainous areas, Masuria and Podlasie. The biggest winter attack is forecast for the turn of January and February. Meteorologists indicate that the winteriest weather will remain mainly in the south and east of the country. The beginning of March will be more rainy. There will be a thaw in most of the country. Winter weather will persist in mountainous areas. This means that students can expect real winter weather during the first two dates of winter break, while the last term may be muddy and muddy.
