The federal deputy (-SP) accused her party of giving preference to new pre-candidates from the party in the distribution of funds from the electoral fund, an amount transferred to cover expenses during the campaign.
In a publication on the networks this Tuesday (23), the parliamentarian stated that the party is discussing a proposal that foresees similar transfers for her, who is a federal deputy seeking re-election, and for new members of the party who intend to obtain a first position through the acronym, such as Manuela D’Ávila.
Manuela, pre-candidate for the Senate for PSOL in Rio Grande do Sul, was part of PC do B for most of her political career.
The deputy argues that the party is failing to fulfill a previously signed commitment in which she would remain in the party so that the acronym could reach the so-called barrier clause, in exchange for being included in the range of party candidates who would receive the transfer intended for “vote pullers” in the states.
This range is intended for those candidates with the greatest potential to attract voters in their states.
“PSOL needs to fulfill the agreements it made with us. And it is not fulfilling it. It is tearing up our agreements and practically making us unviable”, said the congresswoman, who said she was “shocked and disappointed”.
Erika argues that she is one of the party’s main forces in São Paulo. She obtained 257,000 votes when elected in 2022 and was one of the most visible names in recent moves by Congress to end the .
The barrier clause determines that only parties that reach at least one of the established performance criteria will have access to party fund resources and radio and television advertising.
According to the deputy, Juliano Medeiros, former president of PSOL, who will run for the first time, will have “exactly the same priority”.
Furthermore, the text under discussion would be proposing party funding ranges for candidates for state deputy and candidates for the Senate, but does not create a range for federal deputies, according to reports.
The changes were presented to the party’s national directory and should be discussed at a meeting next week.
“I respect their trajectory and would love to see them elected, but this is white and cis privilege overriding everything: the agreements made with us, serious electoral calculations…”, said the parliamentarian on social media.
The clause’s criteria include the election of at least 11 federal deputies, distributed across at least nine units of the Federation, or obtaining at least 2% of the valid votes in the Chamber of Deputies, distributed across at least nine units of the Federation, with a minimum of 1% of the valid votes in each of them.
In the publication, Erika says that the party dismantled the acronym’s national inclusion policy that guaranteed national transfers with adjustments by gender, race and for people with disabilities.
Among other names that would be harmed by the measure would be Rio de Janeiro councilor Rick Azevedo, pre-candidate for federal deputy, who also spoke out on social media.
In response, PSOL reported that Érika Hilton’s campaign is the one with the greatest investment among all the party’s proportional candidacies, given the limit of available resources and the need to finance the other candidacies, both majority and proportional in all Federation Units.
In the note, the party also stated that the inclusion policy adopted internally for the candidacies of women, black people, indigenous people, LGBTs and PCDs is a consolidated policy and there is no debate around changes in this regard.
“The proposal, which will still be voted on in party bodies, takes these goals into account and establishes a ceiling, with the highest possible value, for all mandate holders who will seek reelection, considered our main vote pullers”, says the note.
Juliano Medeiros informed that he does not participate in any executive or directive body of the PSOL and did not follow the debates regarding the distribution of electoral resources. Manuela D’Ávila, also mentioned by Erika, did not want to comment.
However, after the federal deputy’s publication, Juliano Medeiros posted a photo wearing the PSOL shirt with the caption “PSOL yesterday, today and certainly after October”.
A leader interviewed confidentially by the report said that the fact that Erika only mentioned Juliano Medeiros’ candidacy reinforces the nature of an internal dispute within the PSOL.
Juliano, who has already presided over the party and now presides over the party’s federation with Rede, belongs to the Primavera Socialista movement, of which president Paula Coradi is a member and which is the majority within the party.
At the beginning of this year, there was a disagreement between members of different currents and the Solidarity Revolution, a group that includes minister Guilherme Boulos (General Secretariat) and Erika herself. According to this leader, Erika omitted that one of the candidacies treated as a priority by the party will be that of Natália Boulos, the minister’s wife, the federal deputy. Although it has never run for office, the party is considering investing in it, according to the leader, the money it would use in a bid for re-election, and not in a newcomer to the polls.
