A reserve police officer from the Military Brigade of Rio Grande do Sul, sentenced to 46 years arrest for rape of a vulnerable person and double qualified homicidewas arrested this Tuesday afternoon (23) in Angra dos Reis, on the Costa Verde of Rio de Janeiro. The capture took place in the Parque Mambucaba neighborhood, after information was passed on to Hotline.
The prisoner is Jeverson Olmiro Lopes Goulart, 60 years old. The action was carried out by police officers from the Intelligence Subsecretariat of the Military Police of Rio de Janeiro, with support from RS authorities.
The crime took place in November 2016, in the south of Porto Alegre (RS). The victim, Andrei Ronaldo Goulart Gonçalves, 12 years old, went to the room he shared with his uncle. The weapon used belonged to Jeverson, who at the time held the rank of lieutenant in the Military Brigade.
According to the investigation and complaint from the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the police officer allegedly committed sexual abuse against his nephew and then fired the shot while the boy was sleeping. To try to hide the crime, with the aim of simulating suicide. The expert revealed that the writing did not match that of the victim.
After the trial, the Rio Grande do Sul Court issued an arrest warrant for double homicide and rape of a vulnerable person, with sentence set at 46 years of confinement in a closed regime.
After being located and arrested, Jeverson was taken to the 166th Police Station (Angra dos Reis), where the warrant was executed. He was sent to a prison unit of the State Secretariat for Penitentiary Administration of Rio de Janeiro and will be available to the Rio Grande do Sul Court.
