Uber must pay $8.5 million for sexual assault by driver


Phoenix/San Francisco – A jury in Phoenix, Arizona, sentenced the driving service provider Uber to pay $8.5 million (7.20 million euros) on Thursday (local time) for a sexual assault by a driver. A 19-year-old said she was raped by the Uber driver in Arizona. She was under the influence of alcohol and the alcohol was not compatible with her medication. The case was the first of more than 3,000 similar cases against Uber to be consolidated in US federal court.
