Ricardo Nunes minimizes riots among revelers at Augusta – 02/09/2026 – Panel

The mayor of , (), minimized the riots that occurred during the presentation of two megablocks on Rua da Consolação, this Monday (9).

With thousands of people who came to see Acadêmicos do Baixo Augusta and the debut of DJ Calvin Harris, as part of the event’s sponsor, the revelers ended up overwhelmed.

“The blocks did not make their presentation simultaneously. It is common to have more than one block on the same route, obviously at different times”, stated the mayor.

“In fact, we held the exit from the Baixo Augusta Block until the end of the Skol block [com apresentação do DJ Calvin Harris]. Contrary to what they’re saying, it wasn’t simultaneously.”

According to a person linked to management, however, Nunes was warned about the risks of overcrowding with the meeting of two megablocks.

Enthusiastic about what he calls the biggest in the country, Nunes argues that there were no serious cases. And he attributed this to the infrastructure and work of both the city hall and the Military Police.

The presence of the two blocks on the same street on the same day had already raised concerns at the end of January.
