A celebration that was supposed to mark a moment of joy ended in mourning last Saturday night (7/2), in São Carlos, in the interior of São Paulo. Baby Noah Gabriel da Silva Guimarães, 1 year old, died after drowning in the pool of a rented farm where his birthday party was held. The Civil Police treat the case as an accidental death and launched an investigation to clarify the dynamics of what happened.
The drowning happened in the Aracê de Santo Antônio II subdivision, at a time when around ten people were still there. According to reports collected by the police, the heavy rain that fell during the party caused the awning in the main area to be lowered, which ended up making it difficult for those in the space where the guests gathered to see the pool.

Noah was found floating by his father’s sister-in-law, who pulled him out of the water. A guest attempted to perform resuscitation maneuvers until the arrival of the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), with support from the Fire Department. The child was taken to the São Carlos University Hospital, but did not survive.
In testimony, the parents reported that the accident occurred at the end of the celebration. According to the version presented, the mother dismantled the decorations table while the baby was on the father’s lap. In a quick break, the child would have walked away towards the outside area and ended up going to the pool without anyone noticing in time.
The case remains under investigation by the Civil Police, which requested expert examinations from the Criminalistics Institute (IC) and the Legal Medical Institute (IML), in addition to the hearing of witnesses. The baby’s body was laid to rest and buried in the Nossa Senhora do Carmo Cemetery.
